According to experts, skipping breakfast increases the risk of dementia four times. Because breakfast is the most important meal of the day. By eating nutritious and healthy food in the morning, you can spend your day focused and active.

On the other hand, skipping breakfast will make you feel more tired throughout the day. A new study shows that skipping the first meal of the day quadruples the risk of dementia later in life.

This information was revealed in the results published in the Journal of Human Sciences of Health-Social Services in 2011. The aim of this study was to understand the link between lifestyle habits and dementia.

The study was conducted over 6 years in a rural farming community in Japan. About 525 elderly people aged 65 and over participated. At the end of the study, regardless of gender and age, those who did not eat breakfast had four times the risk of developing dementia.

Research also reveals that other dietary habits, such as snacking, also increase a person’s risk of developing dementia. It found that those who did not eat before noon or in the afternoon were 2.7 times more likely to develop dementia later in life, those who ate more salt 2.5 times and those who did not take care of a balanced diet.

What to eat to reduce the risk of dementia?

For this, healthy and nutritious foods should be included in the diet. A balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals can help you fight off many chronic diseases, including dementia.

Researchers at Chicago’s Rush University recommend foods to include in the diet to keep the brain healthy: whole grains, nuts and seeds, healthy fats, green vegetables and fruits.
