Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro has been hospitalized with stomach pains. His wife Michelle Bolsonaro said he was admitted to a hospital in Florida, USA.
This information was revealed in the BBC report on Tuesday. Michelle Bolsonaro said on Instagram on Monday that her husband was under observation due to stomach discomfort.
Citing a source close to the family, Reuters reported that his condition was “not serious”.
Bolsonaro was stabbed in 2018. Since then he has been suffering from occasional abdominal pain.
News of hard-right politician Bolsonaro’s illness came after hundreds of supporters stormed the country’s Congress, presidential palace and Supreme Court in the Brazilian capital.
The country’s new president, Luiz Inacio Lula da, accused Bolsonaro of inciting his supporters to carry out the attack.
However, Bolsonaro has called this allegation “baseless”. At the same time, he highlighted his position in favor of the right to ‘peaceful’ protest.
The presidential election was held in Brazil last December. Bolsonaro was defeated by the leftist Lula. Before Lula was sworn in, he left the country for Florida on December 30.
